JOB ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Hubbard Construction Company
¨ The project schedule (GOAA) was behind by three months due to lack of initiative and ability to meet the
consultant’s requirements for payment. I took responsibility and within one month worked with the consultant to
approve three months of payments totaling approximately 4.5 million dollars (no slack in requirements was
provided). The challenge of this accomplishment was due to the necessity of providing the labor and cost
resources required to duplicate the pay estimate requisition that was in question for the month requested. In
essence, the schedule’s cost resources provided in the baseline schedule (EV) was the determinant factor
estimating the amount of payment due on that month’s requisition.
¨ On a site visit with the superintendent, I was able to visually determine that long pre-cast construction beams for
the Cargo Road Bridge seemed to have a directional flow and curvature elevations that were inconsistent with
expected design due to the forces expected of a traveling vehicle. The drawings indicated that the elevations
were correct based on the drawing; however, it was determined after an RFI that the
Engineer of Record had made an error and reversed the design when transposing the information. Although the
error did not significantly affect the completion of the bridge, I did show that my visual understanding of the
contract drawings was able to detect a fault not previously recognized.
Ajax Building Corporation
¨ Created the project baseline schedule for East Ridge High School using Primavera Suretrak scheduling software.
The schedule required over 1500 activities and was broken down in areas, phases, and responsibilities. The
upkeep of the schedule was detrimental to the continuing progress and the eventual early final completion of the
project. This netted an additional $250,000 bonus for early completion.
¨ Due to my knowledge and determination to properly document and track costs on the project, I was asked by
corporate to travel to Gainesville and review/close-out a previous project that had lost money. In reviewing the
project files, I found that an electrical sub had been paid on two separate CO’s twice for the same work. This
amounted to $50,000.00 that was recoverable by Ajax. This discovery later led to a request to go to another
project on the West coast to take over the submittal processes and reparations required due to a previous PM’s
error of starting construction without approved submittals in place.
The Middlesex Corporation
¨ Initiated the use of Primavera Suretrak and Prolog Manager software for use on all projects under Chris Sousa,
PM I was assigned to. This allowed for effectively tracking the project document records and allowed for
schedule submittal to FDOT and County officials as per contract documents.
¨ I was solely given the responsibility of creating and maintaining all subcontractor and owner pay requisitions due
to my mathematical and MS Excel use ability. Due to my learned expertise in the use of software programs, I
was designated as the computer guru of our office and recognized in the field and within corporate boundaries.
The Owner, OCPW, appreciated my ability to fully explain and verify the payments requested as well as the
review and approval of all owner CO’s.
¨ As a result of my office management accomplishments in following company accounting and procedural
requirements, I was asked to go to another $13 million job to assist/educate the PM and PE of company policy,
make sure the project was being built and supervised properly, and instruction in standard construction
procedural requirements. This required me to take full control of the field office and basically manage the project
(without the title of PM) while taking personal responsibility for field and office activities/requirements to assure
all contractual requirements are met. The Resident Engineer specifically told me that without me, he would not
have accepted the pay requisitions and that I was the forefront of the project success.
6
NewGround
¨ Was brought in to develop the project engineering department and assisted in developing procedures and
expectations for project engineering.
¨ Helped initiate the future procurement of project management software for effective management control.
¨ Became known as the project scheduling guru for the company.
¨ Assisted in maintaining and updating project specifications.
¨ Set up the standards for effective and productive progress to meet project deadlines.
Valley Contractors, Inc. – Derek Baugh (618-781-6409)
¨ Organized the estimator/project manager office. The office was in disarray and it took a week to file and set up
my office. 4” stacks of paperwork throughout the office and on the desks dating back 12 years. Impossible to
effectively perform my duties without this first step.
¨ Pursued new clients and bid opportunities (public and private companies/organizations)
¨ Provided expeditious direct support assistance to the General Superintendent. The first time Derek Baugh was
able to get effective support from the estimator/project manager in 8 years.
¨ Bid $5.8 million in 2012 and was awarded $3.8 million (projects complete June 2013)
¨ Full management and financial responsibility for up to three crews and three to four simultaneous projects
